Absalam Phiri is the Training Manager for Secondary School Science and Mathematics Teachers in the Department of Teacher Education and Development of the Malawi Ministry of Education. Mr. Phiri is also a science teacher educator and doctoral candidate in Curriculum and Instruction in Science Education at Virginia Tech. Mr. Phiri's dissertation research focuses on the integration of indigenous science practices with Western science in the primary school curriculum in Malawi.
Mr. Phiri serves as a liaison with the Malawi Ministry of Education
and will assist with the science education research and curriculum
development for the Mobile Malawi Project.
