Dr. Michael A. Evans is a third-year assistant professor in the instructional design and technology program at Virginia Tech. He teaches courses in learning theory and instructional design, instructional multimedia, and computer supported collaborative learning. His research and development interests include human learning theory, emerging digital media, and mobile and pervasive technologies for STEM-specific instruction and learning. For the Mobile Malawi Project Dr. Evans leads design, development, and evaluation of instructional multimedia, incorporating mobile devices and Web 2.0 technologies. He also leads development and administration of project-related media and web-based technologies.
Before arriving to Blacksburg, Dr. Evans was a research scientist in the Pervasive Technology Labs at Indiana University, where he worked as systems analyst and interface designer on a three-year telemaintenance project for the U.S. Navy Smartships Program. Dr. Evans received his doctoral degree from the department of instructional systems technology at Indiana University, Bloomington. |
